Sad news reported from the Salinas Californian today. The last couple days (indeed, the last few months) on the central coast have been particularly violent, and this story in the Herald of a burning dark-haired woman found in Monterey is going to haunt me. Living in green and beautiful Elkhorn, one can easily get a sense of protected isolation. However, it’s not my intent to be a “booster” for the area, but rather to report on my experience living here. Events like these are a reminder of the dark side of everyday life in Central California. We can’t afford to be smug.
Addendum: Kimber Solana reports that donations are being sought for the family of Azahel Cruz, the child who was shot and killed.
